Thomas Lilti
Thomas Lilti began by studying medicine, during which time he directed three short films: Quelques heures en hiver, Après l'enfance, Roue libre. Later, in 2006, in parallel with his work as a general practitioner, he directed his first feature film, the dark drama Les Yeux bandés, starring Jonathan Zaccaï and Guillaume Depardieu, released in sales in early 2008.
After helping to write the screenplays for Télé Gaucho (2011) and Mariage à Mendoza (2012), Thomas Lilti presents his second feature film, Hippocrate, in 2014, focusing on an environment he knows well: the hospital. For the occasion, he surrounded himself with fashionable actors Vincent Lacoste and Reda Kateb, whose performances were hailed by the critics. The film was also nominated in several categories at the 2015 Césars, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
Less than two years later, the filmmaker is back with a third feature-length film about the daily life of a country doctor suffering from an incurable disease, but very attached to his profession. François Cluzet slips into the shoes of this sort of folk hero. It's an opportunity for Thomas Lilti to deliver a film that's both personal and committed, as he pays tribute to the dying profession that he himself once practiced.
