Episode 15 - Simon Bouisson & Guillaume Desjardins
For this new episode of Série Series l'émission, Marie Barraco and Pierre Zéni welcome two authors who are not afraid to experiment and offer us a fresh take on series: Simon Bouisson and Guillaume Desjardins.
With a passion for hyper-realistic images and fiction bordering on documentary, Simon Bouisson quickly embarked on unique projects, such as Tokyo Reverse, a 9:10 sequence shot in which a man crosses Tokyo in reverse. In 2015, he directed his first interactive feature, WEI or DIE, which was followed 4 years later by République, 3 25-minute episodes that immerse the viewer in a night of attacks in Paris, filmed by two youtubers. He moved closer to the world of series in 2020, taking the directorial reins on Stalk, for France tv Slash, and 3615 Monique for OCS. Both of these works explore, in their own way, the relationship with digital technology.
Guillaume Desjardins founded the creative trio Les Parasites with classmates Jérémy Bernard and Bastien Ughetto in 2013. Their funny or message-driven short films, made for Youtube, quickly gained popularity and won numerous awards. In 2020, they scripted and directed the disaster series L'Effondrement for Canal+, with all 8 episodes shot in sequence. A challenge on every level that will confirm the talent of the group, who are currently working on new projects. At the same time, Guillaume Desjardins co-founded Atelier 7, an audiovisual creation residency that encourages young audiovisual enthusiasts to train themselves by providing them with the tools to do so.
On the show, Simon Bouisson and Guillaume Desjardins look back on their careers, which have common roots in the web and digital worlds, and talk about the importance of learning outside the box and the pleasure of experimenting with the tools of their time.
