Episode 11 - Cathy Verney & Fanny Sidney

Marie Barraco and Pierre Zéni welcome two women who have successfully contributed to the serial landscape in recent years.

Cathy Verney, screenwriter and director, made her debut in front of the camera before devoting herself to writing and directing. After writing and directing two seasons of Hard, for Canal+, and several episodes of seasons 7 and 9 of Fais pas ci, fais pas ça for France 2, in 2019 she will create, write and direct the series Vernon Subutex, adapted from the novels by Virginie Despentes, for Canal+, starring Romain Duris in the title role.

Fanny Sidney, actress; has appeared over the years in Casting(s), Hard (where her path crossed that of Cathy Verney), but it was her role in Dix Pour Cent on France 2 that fully revealed her to the public in the role of Camille. Fanny talks to Série Series l'émission about her career path, which took her from the Fémis to directing and writing. Having taken on the role of scriptwriter and director for several short films before directing episodes for the series Loulou (ARTE) by Alice Vial and Louise Massin, she is currently working on her own series, Brigade Mobile (ARTE), co-written with Marie Lelong and Louise Massin after directing the series JEUNE & GOLRI, 8×26' for OCS written by Agnès Hurstel, Léa Domenach and Victor Saint Macary.

In this episode, they both look back on their careers, share their views on serial creation and discuss the importance of the collective in the creative process, from script to stage.
