Richard Brown recently launched the production company PASSENGER. Brown was a driving force behind the internationally successful, critically acclaimed and award-winning anthology series True Detective (HBO), and was executive producer of its three seasons. More recently, Richard Brown developed and produced for Hulu, Sky Italia and Channel 4 the highly successful series Catch-22, starring George Clooney, Kyle Chandler, Christopher Abbott and Hugh Laurie. He is also known for producing the action film Outlaw King, directed by David Mackenzie and starring Chris Pine, for Netflix. Born in Scotland, Richard began his career at Island Records in London, as an artist and repertoire manager. When he moved to the USA, he switched to the film and TV industry, working first for Nick Wechsler at Industry Entertainment, then for Chris Blackwell at Palm Pictures, where he created and produced the Directors Label series, with Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry and Anton Corbijn. From 2008 to 2019, Richard had an exclusive deal with Anonymous Content; he worked closely with Steve Golin on the company's highly successful expansion into television, giving birth to international hits such as True Detective, Catch-22, Mr Robot, Homecoming, The Knick and 13 Reasons Why. Richard Brown launched Passenger in summer 2019, teaming up with international production and distribution group Fremantle via an exclusive multi-year agreement. Based in London and New York, Passenger will develop and produce drama series and films; Fremantle will co-produce and distribute projects internationally.
