In the Chorweiler district to the north of Cologne, concrete towers rise into the sky. The city center is 45 minutes away, and the unemployment rate is around 21%. This is where our 22-year-old heroine Nicole Pütz lives. A confident, tough young woman with a criminal record, she believes she can do anything. Even the business studies she needs to make her dream come true: setting up her own chain of nail salons with her best friend Ebru.
If you can make it in Chorweiler, you can make it anywhere. In theory, anyway. Because when Nicole arrives at university, it's the most difficult experience she's ever had.
