(S)mothering tells the story of working-class migrants sharing an apartment in Glasgow's cosmopolitan Govanhill district. Their daily lives are turned upside down by the unexpected arrival of the mother of one of them; a mother ready to do anything to restore the order of things by bringing her offspring back to her native land. The chaos this mother on a mission creates in the lives of her son, daughter-in-law, housemates and colleagues, forces them to reconsider why they emigrated to Scotland, what they hope to achieve there and where they really feel at home.
